Form SS-8, also known as Determination of Worker Status for Purposes of Federal Employment Taxes and Income Tax Withholding, is a form that can be filed by both businesses and workers to request the IRS to determine worker status.

This form is used by employers when it’s unclear to them whether the worker must be considered an employee or an independent contractor. It’s also used by workers who believe they have been incorrectly classified as independent contractors instead of employees.
